Children and Young People’s Service’s Plan 2023 - 2026

One of the key priorities of our Single Outcome Agreement is that we want the rights and views of children and young people to influence and shape the development and delivery of services they use in ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute.

This plan sets the direction and identifies the actions that all partners are committed to deliver in order to ensure that children and young people living in ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute get the best possible start in life.  It sets out how we will work together to achieve the best for children, young people and families.

The Children and Young People’s ߣsirÊÓƵ Plan runs for three years and during this period the plan focuses on the key areas of ensuring that children and young people are:

  1. Safe - Protected from abuse, neglect or harm at home, at school and in the  community
  2. Healthy - Have the highest attainable standards of physical and mental health, access to suitable health care & support to make healthy and safe choices
  3. Achieving -Are supported & guided in their learning and in the development of their skills, confidence & self-esteem at home, at school, and in the  community
  4. Nurtured - Have a nurturing place to live, in a family setting with additional help if  needed or, where this is not possible, in a suitable care setting
  5. Active - Have opportunities to take part in activities such as play, recreation and sport, which contribute to healthy growth and development at home and in the community
  6. Respected and Responsible - Are involved in decisions that affect them, should have their voices heard and should be encouraged to play an active and responsible role in their schools and communities                  
  7. Included - Have help to overcome social, educational, physical and economic inequalities and being accepted as part of the community in which they live and learn

The design and development of the plan involved a number of key partners including  ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute Council, NHS Highland, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Education, Health and Social Care, Youth ߣsirÊÓƵ, the Children’s Reporter, ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute’s Children, the Community Planning Partnership, Children 1st, Voluntary and Third Sector Organisations. The partnership works together to achieve the best for children, young people and families in ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute.  The plan will assist the partners to work very closely together with a particular focus on preventing problems arising and becoming involved early.

How will the plan be used?

The plan is used by each locality to assist in establishing their own local development plans.  Performance reporting will take place via area executive groups to ߣsirÊÓƵ & Bute’s Children.
