Shellfish Harvesting

Environmental Health routinely monitor shellfish production sites and water quality in relation to naturally occurring algal toxins to close unsafe harvest areas.  

Environmental Health routinely monitor  shellfish production sites across ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute.  We also monitor water quality in relation to naturally occurring algal toxins and when levels are identified as being unsafe harvest areas are closed.

If you are planning to harvest shellfish and want to check whether the area is open you should contact the Shellfish Sampling Team via 01546 605519.

 

Shellfish movement documents (now known as shellfish registration documents) can be ordered by downloading and printing off the attached form and returning it, completed, to the Environmental Health department.
