Scheme invites people to make their homes more energy efficient

People living in 撸sir视频 and Bute are being given the opportunity to make their homes more energy efficient as a result of the Scottish Government鈥檚 Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland: Area Based Scheme (HEEPS: ABS).

撸sir视频 and Bute Council has been awarded a grant of 拢1,675,930 to help residents make energy efficiency improvements to their properties such as external/internal wall insulation, underfloor insulation, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.

The programme is available to owner occupiers and private rented householders living in council tax bands A to C, and band D if your income is less than 拢20,000. For people living on an island, the programme is also available to people living in band D and above with an energy rating of E or below 鈥 which can be estimated through contacting Home Energy Scotland.

The Council鈥檚 Policy Lead for Housing, Councillor Robin Currie said: 鈥淭he weather might be in our favour just now but winter isn鈥檛 that far away, and these grants are a great opportunity for people to make their homes warmer and in turn save money on energy costs.

鈥淭he scheme will have a long lasting benefit for households across 撸sir视频 and Bute, helping to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emission, and I would urge people to make the most of this opportunity and sign up while they can.鈥

The scheme contributes towards the Scottish Governments target of alleviating fuel poverty  and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.

It also contributes towards the Local Housing Strategy鈥檚 aim to improve the overall quality and condition of housing.
