You can use our website service to apply, renew or amend a resident’s parking permit (Oban only), or to purchase a car park permit for the Council’s off street car parks. You can also buy weekly or monthly permits for car parks in Oban area and Mull (select "Car park season tickets" below)

Which car parks can I use with a car park permit?

Car Park permit holders can park in any of ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute Council’s off street car parks which support permits, with the exception of seasonal car parks.

Where can I park with a resident’s parking permit (Oban only)?

Details of on-street parking sub zones and related streets in Oban can be found in the tables below.

Please carefully note the correct sub zone for which you are applying. The system will indicate whether your street is valid for zone based on street parking. Contact the parking services team if you have issues finding your street.

How do I change the vehicle registration number on my resident’s parking permit?

Where a vehicle has been replaced, the vehicle registration number can be amended against the permit, subject to other conditions for purchase of residents parking permits. Details of new vehicle registration ownership must be supplied. Contact the parking services team in the first instance on 01546 605514, or email your request and proof of ownership to parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk quoting your permit application number and address.

How do I change the vehicle registration number on my car park season ticket?

You can use this site to change the registration number, make or model of the car on your car park season ticket. You will need your permit application number and PIN number which emailed to you when you applied. Contact the parking services team on 01546 605514 if you are experiencing difficulties.

I’ve just recently moved to the area/ within the area, so my new address is not on my supporting documents, can I still apply for a residents parking permit?

Yes, use the system to apply and pay for the permit and the period you want. Select ‘Other- temporary permit’ from the supporting documentation drop down fields. We will allocate a permit on a temporary basis whilst your documentation address is being amended. Once evidence is received, we will amend the permit to ‘Full’. You will have up to 28 days from issue to supply correct supporting documentation before your temporary permit expires. A refund of unused days will be provided, however, please note that refunds can be issued for whole calendar months only.

I’ve changed my car, how do I get the car ownership details changed for my permit?

Go onto the permit portal and select Change/Amend details. Upload your new supporting documentation.

Off Street car park permits - Terms and conditions

  • This car park permit allows you to park in any ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute Council off street car park for the period applied and paid for (this excludes Inveraray).
  • Seasonal permits for Inveraray can only be used in those car parks for the period specified.
  • Car park permits are vehicle specific and can only be purchased for one vehicle registration number.
  • Car park permits are valid from the date specified when applying and thereafter for the period of time selected (1 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month).
  • Car park permits cannot be transferred to another vehicle without notifying the parking services team. To change the name or vehicle registration details, please go online to our permit gateway website at www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/ or email directly to parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk.
  • Refunds for car park permits can be requested by calling 01546 605514 or email parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk. A refund may be denied if there is below £1 to be refunded or the permit is non-refundable. Should a refund request be denied, The parking services team will make contact to explain the reason(s).
  • Refunds are for whole months only. Contact the parking services team on 01546 605514 or email parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk if you require assistance with applicable permit dates.
  • Weekly tickets and monthly tickets are available for Oban and Mull car parks only, these permits are non-refundable.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or deny a parking permit request if said permit is being misused (in a manner which is not acceptable: Using the parking area for a purpose which is not intended, not complying with the rules/regulations in the parking area as identified on the signs and lines or if the information that has been provided on your application that is incorrect/inconsistent.) We may also refuse your application if there is a previous records of abusive/aggressive behaviour towards the Civil enforcement officers or parking services staff. We will only refuse an application if we deem this appropriate to do so, if you application is refused the parking services team will make contact to explain the reason(s).
  • These Terms and Conditions incorporate our Unacceptable actions procedure.

Residential parking permits - Terms and conditions

  • The permit can only be used in the sub zone for which it is issued.
  • The permit is only valid against the registered vehicle for which it is issued.
  • Permits are ‘virtual’ and hard copies will not be issued.
  • Permits are valid from the date of issue. Please retain email correspondence for your records.
  • No preferred rights attach to the permit and it cannot be used out-with the relevant sub-zone or in off-street car parks even if all parking bays in the subzone are full.
  • The permit exempts the holder from charges and time limits on parking on specified streets within identified zones, This does not include restricted hour lines, single yellow lines, double yellow lines, loading bay’s or taxi/bus reserved areas.
  • When a vehicle is sold or disposed of, a refund against the remaining permit validity period can be applied for. Refunds are for whole months only. Contact the parking services team on 01546 605514 or email parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk .
  • Where a vehicle has been replaced, the vehicle registration number can be amended against the permit, subject to other conditions for purchase of residents parking permits. Details of new vehicle registration ownership must be supplied (V5c/lease agreement/Sales receipt). You can use the permit portal to do this. Have your supplied correspondence to hand with your permit number and PIN number. Contact the parking services team on 01546 605514 if you have lost this, or email your request and proof of ownership to parkingpermits@argyll-bute.gov.uk quoting your permit application number and address.
  • If you have recently moved within the area, it is your responsibility to check whether your resident’s permit is still valid and to change address details using the website in order to avoid any parking enforcement notices.
  • Refunds can be issued for whole calendar months only.

  • When applying for a residential permit you must supply proof of address (items are identified when applying) and the V5c (this must clearly show the registered owners address and VRM), we also accept lease agreements for PCP/HP/Mobility/Leased vehicles.
  • If you do not inform us of any changes to your Vehicle (VRM change, Vehicle change or Temporary hire vehicle) and you receive a PCN then you may still be liable to pay the charge.
  • These Terms and Conditions incorporate our Unacceptable actions procedure.

The only town that requires residential parking permits in ߣsirÊÓƵ and Bute is Oban.   Residential parking permits are available for the following areas of Oban Town Centre:
